Technology and innovation meet traditional French expertise in this year’s French Weeks [fr]
- e-Toile: October 27th is the date of the launching of the 9th edition of this unique event. For those who have not yet been able to hear about this festival, could you introduce them to its highlights?
Séverine Gianèse-Pittman: The «French Weeks» festival is an opportunity to celebrate the expertise, as well as the power of innovation, of the French companies.
The opening cocktail at the Consul general’s residence is the first key moment of the French Weeks. Six exhibitors will be there to represent the French gastronomy. The October 28th roundtable is particularly important. It will highlight Miami as a new technology hub and will develop France’s image as a powerhouse for innovation. The November 29th tennis tournament is a must-attend competition. The business luncheon of November 4th will combine culinary arts with presentations of the French contribution to Smart Cities and, on November 7th, a roundtable on perfumes will be undoubtedly exciting.
Finally, the closing cocktail on November 10th at the Marion restaurant will be a “must” with auctions that will permit guests to fly with Air France, enjoy a stay at Club Med or leave the party with one of the many luxury goods. The complete program is found at
- e-Toile: Many Chefs that participate in the opening cocktail are also a part of “French Taste”, the gourmet section of the French Weeks. How many professionals have joined this culinary program and how many other professionals, from the world of beauty and fashion, participate in “French Style”?
Séverine Gianèse-Pittman: We are fortunate this year to offer French menus from more than 30 restaurants. These restaurants are mainly in Miami-Dade County but also in Broward, Palm Beach and in the Tampa Bay area. Do not hesitate do discover them from October 27th to November 10th.
From the 3rd of November until the 10th, “French Style” features more than 20 brand representatives and French service providers. From hairdressers to kitesurfing, there are options for everyone to enjoy French “lifestyle”. Feel free to learn more about all the participants on the website of "French Weeks".
- e-Toile: Which sectors of opportunity will you address this year?
Séverine Gianèse-Pittman: The French Tech takes center stage this year because France is at an inflexion point: its digital transformation is accelerating and a new dynamic ecosystem is emerging. In Miami, it leads to the creation of many specialized French Tech start-ups.
From the October 28th roundtable to the Business Luncheon taking place on November 4, we highlight the French companies’ contribution to the development of Miami as a Smart City. Do not hesitate to share all you next French memorable moments with the hashtag #FrenchWeeks2016.
- e-Toile: Besides the consulate, what are your main partners in organizing this year’s French Weeks?
Séverine Gianèse-Pittman: Our partners are becoming more numerous and we are very grateful. The French Weeks are primarily the moment of the year for all the actors in the French community to get together and to do things together.
All of this is possible thanks to our generous sponsors first, headed by Air France, without whom we would not be able to organize the Festival. Finally, we also thank all the restaurants and companies that will be present at the opening night and that participate in “French Taste” as well as “French Style”. Each year, we are delighted to coordinate a festival that unites our community. All the sponsors can be found on our website www.FrenchWeeksMiami.com
