A word of welcome from the Consul General [fr]

JPEG Dear compatriots, Dear friends of France,

It is with great pleasure that I have taken my post last September in a wide consular district that includes Florida, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands and the Turks and Caicos Islands. I already had the opportunity to work in the United States during an earlier posting at the United Nations.

Arriving from Mexico, where I served during four years, I am delighted to join you at the heart of this crossroads of the Americas.
The Consulate General of France works with a large and dynamic French community. Its mission is also to contribute, together with you, to the economic and cultural ties between our country and the United States. Therefore I will continue to meet you over the next months to learn more about your activities and projects.

Many of us will attend the two weeks organized by the French-American Chamber of Commerce in Miami, from October 27th to November 10th. The “French Weeks” will highlight gastronomy, French art de vivre, as well as innovation, three pillars of the international reputation of France.

Our cultural schedule in November will include several other French events, including the festival “France Cinema Floride” and the participation of the author Gisèle Pineau from Guadeloupe in the Miami Book Fair International.
All these initiatives – and many others – build up the image of our country in the region, and I would like to thank all those who carry them out.

Finally, I invite French citizens to renew their consular registration or to check if it is current. I should emphasize that this registration is a prerequisite to participate, in the consular district of Miami, in the 2017 national elections. It can now be done entirely online via the website service-public.fr.

Best regards to you all,

Clément Leclerc
