FLAFRA 2015: APRIL 1-30 [fr]

FLAFRA 2015 (APRIL 1-30)

JPEGTigertail presents the second edition of FLAFRA (Florida-France Festival), a multi-disciplinary art program that spans all artistic domains including dance, music, performance, film, literature and more.

Organized with the support of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in Miami, FLAFRA invites you to discover the films of French poet and playwright Jean Cocteau at the Miami Beach Cinematheque and at the outdoor Festival “Films on the Beach”.

Dance performances by Nadia Beugré and concerts of Savoy-Doucet Cajun Band and Gypsy Jazz Guitar by Adrien Moignard will pace FLAFRA’s agenda.

The festival is also an opportunity for local South Florida artists to present their things "à la française" during five-minute Culture Clicks. And, for those looking for adventure training, there will be a "chasse au trésor"!

FLAFRA will also be co-hosting the launch of Curated “French Corners” at Books and Books in Coral Gables with music by Vincent Raffard’s French Horn Collective, as well as author and illustrator Annie Goetzinger.

Tigertail Productions presents Nadia Beugé. Her first performance in Miami is one of the many highlights of Tigertail’s FLAFRA festival.

Nadia Beugré is a young dancer from Côte d’Ivoire. In 1997, she started the dance company “La Compagnie de filles Tché Tché” with Béatrice Kombe.
Ten years later, after the death of her partner, she trained again with Germaine Acogny in Dakar and became a dancer in Alain Buffard’s company in Montpellier (France).

Her solo performance “Quartier Libre”, which is presented at FLAFRA Festival, was created in 2012. As in all of her shows, she strives to overcome taboos through her performances, thereby evoking the raging civil war in her country and African women’s daily life struggle. Such immersive and visual performances have been described as raw and forthright.
