Soccer: France and the U.S. meet for a Soccer game in Tampa [fr]
For the first time since the 2012 Olympics, the U.S. Women’s National Team will face France in a match taking place on June 14, 2014 at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL.
American newspapers are very interested in this game, stressing that France is seen on this side of the Atlantic as a country holding some of football’s most talented players.
The Chicago News notes that the French team is composed of two female players from the best clubs in Europe, Olympique Lyonnais and Paris Saint-Germain.
The two teams have had notable encounters in the past.
They met on July 13, 2011, in a semi-final for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Mönchengladbach, Germany. The U.S. beat France, with a score of 3-1. In 2012, for the Olympic curtain raiser on July 25, 2012 in Glasgow, the Americans also won, with a score of 4-2.
