Celebrating France’s achievements in the domain of cuisine and gastronomy, honored as Unesco World Heritage.
Following South Beach’s Food & Wine Fest, the Tropical Baroque Music Festival pays tribute to France’s remarkable culinary history with a performance mixing the ravishing music of Louis XIV’s Versailles with a festive tasting menu imagined by Chef Denis Leroy.
This baroque My Fair Lady, delighting Parisian audiences with sold out performances since May 2013, receives its American premiere on February 24, 2014 at 8:00 pm at the Miami Beach Community Church (1620 Drexel Avenue, Miami Beach).
Fuoco E Cenere has established itself as an arena for sensational musical adventures. Spurred on by director Jay Bernfeld’s love of song, Fuoco E Cenere has been pleased to collaborate with many of today’s finest voices as well as the stars of tomorrow.
Appearing in Toque of the Town are Julie Fioretti, recent winner of the prestigious Renata Tebaldi Vocal Competition, and Philippe Cantor, celebrated for his many recordings with France’s les Arts Florissants.
The ensemble’s first recording, Fantasy in Blue - Purcell meets Gershwin, was hailed by Le Monde as a « veritable knock-out », and has ever since retained an often remarked daring in its choice of repertoire.
Eager to preserve the unique freshness of the concert-going experience, Fuoco E Cenere has devised quite a number of original entertainments, including recent intriguing mixes of music and puppetry.
Their recording of Marco da Gagliano’s little known masterpiece La Dafne was awarded the prestigious Orphée d’Or by the Académie du Disque Lyrique, and unanimously lauded by international critics.
Many of the ensemble’s premiere performances have been given at the Tropical Baroque Music Festival of the Miami Bach Society.
