Bouchra Khalili at the Pérez Art Museum Miami [fr]

The Pérez Art Museum in Miami will make their debut by opening its doors at the height of the cultural season in the city on December 4, while the enormous art fair at Art Basel in Miami Beach is underway. In this new showcase situated on Biscayne Bay, facing Miami Beach, Franco-Moroccan artist Bouchra Khalili presents, by the museum’s request, her latest work, the third and final chapter of the trilogy The speeches Series. A video trilogy (2012-2013).

The work of Bouchra Khalili - video, installation, photography and works on paper - explores contemporary migration routes and the notion of a clandestine existence through the articulation and exploration of areas of transit, language, and minority discourse. Bouchra Khalili has participated in numerous international exhibitions, including "Mapping Subjectivity" at MoMA in 2011 and the 10th Sharjah Biennial, also in 2011. That same year in New York and Paris, on this same theme, she presented "You have been there" for the Marian Goodman Gallery as well as "Meeting Points" and " Surveillé (s)." In 2012, she inaugurated The Art Centre Tarragona with a solo exhibition and participated in the 18th Biennale of Sydney.

She is currently residing in Berlin as part of the "DAAD Artist in Berlin Award". This was the occasion for the showing of “Intense Proximité” where Bouchra Khalili presented a version of Speeches. In this context, she invites exiles to "repeat" fragments of major texts of modern and contemporary political and cultural thought, written by Malcolm X, Abdelkrim El Khattabi, Edouard Glissant ...
Bouchra Khalili now presents, by the museum’s request, the third and final chapter of the trilogy The speeches Series. A video trilogy (2012-2013).
