European Cinema in Puerto Rico

The Alliance francaise of Puerto Rico presents the fourth edition of the "Festival del Cine Europeo." The festival also invites Puerto Rican films to its screens as, for the first time, they will also take part in the competition.

Following a growing success in 2012, "Hecho in Europa" is back for its fourth edition in San Juan.

The festival will feature 30 films from 15 European countries, including several French features, but also documentaries and films for young audiences.

This year’s festival will host a short film competition with the objective of providing visibility to the local talent within the Festival.
It will host several film-making workshops for university film students and for young film-makers. The winners will obtain a grant to travel to France and to further develop their film-making skills.

The festival presents over 40 films including 9 French films: A lady in Paris by Ilmar Raag, Mariage à Mendoza by Edouard Deluc, Polisse by Maïwenn, Le Bonheur, Terre Promise by Laurent Hasse, The Illusionist by Sylvain Chomet and a selection of 4 recent films screened on six university campuses (free and open to the public).

To mark this festival, the Consul general of France in Miami, Gaël de Maisonneuve, will be in Puerto Rico, March 20, 2013. He will have the privilege to present the awards to the winners of the competitions open during this festival.
