Concert celebrating the 150th birthday of Claude Debussy
Claude Debussy was a French composer and one of the most prominent figures in impressionist music.
Debussy’s style is noted for its sensory component and for not just forming around one key or pitch. Debussy’s work sometimes reflected the happenings of his often turbulent life, specifically his love life.
One of his most successful works in piano was the first book of Preludes. Debussy’s preludes are replete with rich, unusual and daring harmonies. They include the popular "La Fille aux Cheveux de Lin" (The Girl with the Flaxen Hair) and "La Cathédrale Engloutie" (The Engulfed Cathedral).
In celebration of this great French composer’s 150th birthday, the piano duo, Gastesi-Bezerra, will be performing a concert presenting "six epigraphes» based on antique poems by Pierre Louÿs.
It will be taking place on Saturday, October 6, at 8 PM at All Saints Episcopal Church- 333 Tarpon Drive, Ft Lauderdale and tickets will be free at the door.
