First graduation of the French-American Baccalauréat in Florida

JPEGStudents of the International School of Broward (ISB), one of the first American schools to offer the French-American Baccalaureate (BFA), come to pass the exams of the French-American Baccalauréat at ISB - International School of Broward-, the institution has opted for the option ES (Economic and Social). It is the first class of BFA in Florida and success rates will be released in a few weeks.

The French-American Baccalaureate is approved both by the French Ministry of Education and the American College Board.

BFA is a high-level exam, which explains that students cannot register as an independent candidates, it sanctions a demanding education, where a very good command of French and English are required.

  • For the students, preparing and obtaining the BFA, first, assures an excellent general education brought by the French Baccalaureate, thereby gaining access to great universities and “Grandes Ecoles” in France and across Europe.
  • In the other hand, experiencing instruction methods anchored to North-American higher education since AP courses are college level taught in high schools and thus better prepare students for North American universities, should that be the candidate’s choice.
  • Finally, achieving mastery of the French language and culture as well as the English language and U.S. culture and, at the same time, demostrating true bicultural skills, which are extremely important in an increasing open world.

The French Baccalaureate is a national diploma, which is considered the first diploma in higher education and therefore, it grants its holder the right to enter any French university.

It was created in 1808 and is administered by the French Ministry of Education. The program ensures both a broad general cultural knowledge by the number and the variety of required subjects, and a specilization in a particuler subject.

Locally, the International School of Broward offers Economics and Social Sciences. In 2009 in France, 530,200 students passed the French Baccalaureat.

Worldwide, within the network of the French schools, more than 10,000 students have passed.
